Description

These Banana Wonton Bites are easy to fold and quick to fry with a simple banana cinnamon filling tucked inside crisp golden wrappers. They are one of the best healthy inspired dessert ideas for a party and brunch or potluck because each bite is sweet and warm while still feeling light enough for sharing. Serve them fresh with honey or chocolate drizzle for a fun homemade treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium Ripe bananas
  • 24 wrappers Wonton wrappers
  • 3 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 4 ounces Cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 cups Neutral oil
  • 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Honey

Instructions

  1. The ripe bananas are mashed until soft with some small chunks still visible. Cream cheese and brown sugar and cinnamon and vanilla are folded in until the filling looks creamy with uneven banana streaks and a lightly speckled color.
  2. Small spoonfuls of banana filling are placed near the center of the wonton wrappers. The wrappers are folded into casual triangles and sealed with beaten egg so each piece looks slightly different with soft filling pressing against the edges.
  3. The filled wontons are placed in hot oil and begin to puff slightly around the edges. The bottom sides turn pale golden while the top edges remain lighter and the pieces drift apart in uneven positions.
  4. The wonton bites are flipped so the darker browned side faces up and the lighter side cooks underneath. The wrappers become crisp and blistered with uneven golden patches and a few tiny seams show the warm banana filling inside.
  5. The fried wonton bites are moved to a serving plate and arranged in a loose pile. Powdered sugar falls unevenly over the crisp wrappers and honey drizzles across a few pieces while the browned edges and soft filling stay visible.

Notes

Pro Tips:

  • Use ripe bananas with brown speckles because they mash easily and give the filling a sweeter deeper flavor.
  • Seal each wonton edge firmly with egg so the banana filling stays inside while the wrappers puff and brown.
  • Fry the bites in small batches because crowded wontons steam instead of turning crisp and golden.
  • Serve them right away because the wrappers are at their best while warm and lightly crackly.

Storage: Store leftover Banana Wonton Bites in an airtight container after they have cooled completely. Place a small piece of parchment between layers so the crisp edges do not stick together. Keep them in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. The wrappers will soften as they sit but the banana filling will stay sweet and creamy. Reheat the bites in an air fryer or oven until the edges feel crisp again. Avoid the microwave because it makes the wrappers soft and chewy. For best texture fry only what you plan to serve. Filled uncooked wontons can be chilled for a few hours on a covered tray before cooking.
