- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion diced
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- 12 ounces ziti or penne pasta
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet and drain excess grease.
- Add onion and garlic and cook until softened.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes diced tomatoes Italian seasoning salt and pepper.
- Add uncooked pasta and stir to coat.
- Simmer until pasta is tender adding water if needed.
- Dollop ricotta on top and gently swirl.
- Top with mozzarella and Parmesan and bake until bubbly.
- Let rest before serving.
Notes
- Add red pepper flakes for heat.
- Use Italian sausage instead of beef for more flavor.
- Add broth if pasta absorbs too much sauce.
